In Nigeria, I am not Miss Everly. I am Auntie Everly. And I think I like that title better since it has a way of making me feel like family to people I have just met.

It has been two years since I enjoyed three months in Benin City, Nigeria volunteering at a hospital. It was during that time that this blog was started. I learned so much from many wonderful Nigerian “aunties” at the hospital and feel blessed to have been welcomed into their space. I also look back in awe at the Idahosa family and their generosity; I cherish the time I spent with them and know they taught me many lessons about the value and joy that comes with the “family” in your life.

Two years later, I am a few months from finishing my education as a nurse-midwife and wondering what’s next. I hope this blog serves to keep people updated about my whereabouts and encourage those who read it!

  1. Hey Sweetie, I was glad to hear about your day on your blog. I think it was humble of you to put the needs of your patient ahead of your desire to catch a baby.

  2. YEAH! Great first blog! Sounds amazing. I hope the stress and stuff has just fallin away! Excited to hear more! I linked your blog to mine, so we are all connected! Wahoo!

  3. You are amazing! God made you that way! So good to here from you! Will keep up with your adventures. You are in our hearts and most of all our prayers. YOUR THE GIRL!!! Love you much!!

  4. Congratulations on your first catch! Glad mom and baby are safe. Years from now that mom will be boasting about the white, American lady that caught her baby. I’m sure she thinks her baby is even more special because of it. I think so too!
